The first day on the road.
We, Jerry and I departed this morning, the 25th. headed west. We left around 7:00 AM from Jerry's (Newberry, SC) in a driving rain. We could hardly see the road. We decided to take a short cut to Atlanta, via, Augusta. Travelling the back roads early in the morning has it's advantages. We were slowed down only once by a school bus. Took about an hour to get to I-20 east at North Augusta. This gave us a straight shot through Atlanta. It turned out to be a good day to travel. By the time we got to Atlanta, he weather had improved so it was only blue skies the rest of the day. We only stopped for gas and the call of nature. The Pepsi's were responsible for that. We covered over 900 miles before stopping in Shreveport for the evening. After stretching, combing our hair and washing our face, we headed for the Casino. Started at Diamond Jack's but found the machines a bit tight. So, it was off to the middle of town to Sam's Club. Here we discovered that we had only been nibbling snacks all day so now, it's time to eat. After a great dinner, which we got with a 50% reduction in cost (it pays at times to be over 50) we hit the slots. I blew a dollar in the penny machine and walked away a loser. Jerry invested a couple dollars in the machine beside me, and cashed out a winner. ($41.91) Back to the motel and to bed. Leaving early in the morning for Tyler Texas. Tune in tomorrow for more.
